- Parabens are existing in many forms such as Ethyl-,Methyl-,Propyl-,and Butyl-. Parabens are used to inhibit microbial growth and to prolong the shelf life of the products. Widely used, even though commonly known to be toxic. Cause many allergic reactions and cutaneous eruptions ( as they may cause to weaken estrogenic activity). Some small studies found that parabens may have been the causes of the associated risk to breast tumors.1,2 However, though there are not definite study to confirm that parabens are the linking cause to the development of breast cancer. Neither of the studies demonstrate that parabens are definitely safe. The long term health effect which causes by parabens are needed to be studied in further.

- Sodium Laureth Sulfate ( SLS), Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLES) - Detergent used as a moisturizer in floor cleaning products. SLS and SLES are used in laboratories as skin irritants in order to test soothing products. However, due to their low cost, SLS and SLES make their present in the majority of shampoos and cosmetics foaming products. Several studies have underlines the harmful effects of their use : Urinary infections, kidney and bladder infections, fertility problems, irritation to the eyes, skin and scalp, allregic reactions , lesions of the scalp and hair loss. Certain studies have asserted that SLS and SLES are carcinogenic ( causing or tending to cause cancer)
- PEG ( Polyethylene glycol) and PG ( Propylene glycol) ,is a colorless, nearly odorless, syrupy liquid that is derived from petroleum. It is found in automatic brakes and industrial defrosters. It dissolves grease and oil and is used as a thickener. You should avoid pre fixes such as,PEG and Polyethylene. The material data safety sheet (MSDS): of propylene glycol warns against contact with the skin. However, both PEG and PG are mainly used as a humectant in cosmetics. The effects of propylene glycol on human health are numerous and alarming. It could cause dermatitis ( Acne, or skin problems) , ototoxicity ( Damages to ear nerves), kidney damage and liver problem. Ethylene Glycol is a suspected bladder carcinogen it has been linked to birth defects.
- Phenoxyethanol- Exists in many cosmetics as well as so called" Natural skincare products" or " Natural cosmetics". Phenoxyethanol has been widely used as the substitution of Paraben. Though , it is derived from natural source but it is toxin! It is used as the cosmetics preservative. Phenoxyethanol is scientifically irritant to skin and eyes and it is totally restricted to use in the cosmetics in Japan. The studies also showed that Phenoxyethanol affects brain and nervous system , damages to the bladder and causes the DNA mutation meaning the risk of getting the cancer.
- Silicones Silicone is used to soften and smoothen the skin in many cosmetics skincare products. However, they coat the skin , trapping anything beneath it, ad do not allow the skin to breathe ( very much like plastic wrap would do). Recent studies have indicated that prolonged exposure of the skin to sweat, may cause the skin irritation. Some synthetic skin softening effect are known to be tumour promoters and accumulate in the liver and lymph nodes. Silicones are existing in many forms such as ; dimeethicone, Dimethicone Copolyol , Cyclomethicone.
- Mineral oil - Derivative of petroleum, used industrially as a cutting fluid and lubricating oil. It forms an oily layer on the skin and traps moisture under the skin thus preventing the skin from breathing. At the same time, it stops toxins and wastes from escaping.
- Synthetic Perfumes - The term " Perfume" on the label of a conventional product is very misleading : behind this simple word hide 200 chemical products that are unabashedly unlisted. Some problems cause by these chemical products are : headache, dizziness, hyper-pigmentation, violent cough, vomiting and skin irritation.
More than this there are still more and many cosmetics ingredients to avoid list per below that Jeanbio Olive products do not contain any of those at all.
